Welcome to Armfield's Fact File newsletter for R&D professionals in the F&B and
pharmaceutical industries. In this issue
we cover the latest Armfield products, and talk with Golden Frog Flavor & Fragrance, the first users of Armfield's brand
new product trials laboratory.
Size matters.
Golden Frog Flavor & Fragrance discover why smaller can be better
It's no secret that research & development is far more efficient and effective when you are able to accurately replicate industrial-scale
processes on a small scale in the laboratory.
Pictured right, Armfield recently developed a new facility in order to accommodate an increasing demand for product trials.
Based at Armfield's
head office in the UK, the facility features a selection of the latest Armfield miniature-scale R&D equipment, including the FT102X
Carbonator-Filler,
FT111 Rapid Extractor, FT80 Spray Drier, FT74DI Steam Injection UHT System,
FT74X HTST/UHT Unit and FT25 Modular Scraped Surface Heat Exchanger System.
Golden Frog Flavor & Fragrance, a Vietnamese company specialising in top-note reaction flavours and extracts, were the first
to use the new facility. The company had identified the need
to replicate production plant processes on a small scale, in order to speed up product development and boost efficiency. However, they wanted
to run their own trials on Armfield equipment before purchasing.
"Although Golden Frog is currently operating mainly in South-East Asia," comments company
Director Tuyet Nhung, "we aim to make our range of flavours, all based on classic Vietnamese dishes,
available to a far wider market."
To achieve this, the company is making their flavours available in powder form,
developing powders from a diverse porfolio of ingredients such as
meat stock, mixed herbs and fruits. The
FT80 Spray Drier
offers the ideal solution,
quickly and efficiently processing laboratory quantities of product.
"The trials were a success, and it has been great dealing with Armfield," adds Golden Frog's Business Director, Dean Anthony.
"This is a people-oriented business, and we have been very impressed by Armfield's personal and open approach ever since our initial enquiry.
They give us confidence in their product and in their ability to deliver ongoing service and support."
Armfield trials facilities are available in the UK and the USA. If you are interested in using one of these 'try before you buy' facilities,
